RIP VAN CHIRAC AWAKES AFTER 11 DAYS OF RIOTING

Jacques Chirac, France's president and the United States' undying nemesis, must be heavy into the Bordeaux these days and awash in somnolence. How else to explain his dereliction in waiting 11 days before deciding it was high time he make a public statement about the serious rioting occurring initially in the suburbs of Paris and now even in France's capital itself. Wouldn't you think a "security meeting" was long past due given the gravity of the situation and the international attention being paid the mayhem? It must be the hubris and the sanctimonious air of the man.
