What I wrote in this post (and reinforced in this follow-up) is echoed in a quote of Ryan Sager's that John Hawkins republishes in his "Right Wing News" today. Not only has President Bush never sought a specific offset(s) to disaster-relief spending since he became president, but he has never exercised his veto power to kill unnecessary spending, which has been manifold during his administration, during which Republicans have held a majority on both sides of the aisle.

Then I'm left scratching my head by this preposterous line of thinking! U.S. power is in direct proportion to the size of its debt? Come on, Nick!

FOLLOW-UP: Along the same lines.
