RAY NAGIN TO STAR IN NEW ORLEANS PRODUCTION OF "HAMLET"

Watching Ray Nagin wrestle with his own inept decisions and back-and-forth vascillation is akin to sitting in the theatre for a stage play production of Shakespeare's "Hamlet" with the venue New Orleans. The mayor had more than 72-hours advance warning on Katrina, but failed to ensure that a mandatory evacuation was carried out. People died and people suffered as a result. Then, against the advice of the federal government, and with Hurricane Rita in the offing, he rushed pell mell to return New Orleans' evacuees to certain sections of the storm-ravaged city. Now, low and behold, Rita is a frightening reality (no surprise there for people who have been watching the news) -- presently a Category 2 hurricane -- so he's putting on the brakes and scrubbing his re-population plan.

What leadership! It's disgraceful.
