MORE ON NEWSWEEK/ISIKOFF DEBACLE: DOES A JIHAD LOOM?

The following story at CNN appears to corroborate the viewpoint quoted in this post by Glenn Reynolds.

In a bygone era, Mike Isikoff would no doubt have served William Randolf Hearst ("you give me the pictures, I'll give you the war") well. Hearst, you may recall, directed similar sensationalism in his era of "yellow journalism" -- to wit, that Spanish troops were brutally placing Cubans in concentration camps during the second Cuban Revolution of 1895.

Isikoff, it appears, neither requires photographs, nor two named sources (nor a truly "credible" unnamed source without an axe to grind). He could have been Hearst's obsequious gopher.
