POPE MAY NOT SURVIVE CURRENT HEALTH CRISIS

The beloved Pope John Paul II is described as "clinging to life," experiencing now a dreaded combination of respiratory and urinary tract problems that may well lead to his death. Millions await news worldwide of what they believe now to be the inevitability of this latest in a series of profound health crises. It's approaching 11:00pm in Rome now and a death vigil is well-formed at the Vatican as the 84-year-old Pontiff fights, but continues to fail. Angelo Comastri, John Paul's vicar general, is reported by the Associated Press (AP) as saying:

This evening, or this night, Christ opens the door to the pope.

God bless the soul of this remarkable man -- this beloved servant of God.
