Michael Schiavo, through his attorney George Felos, rejected yesterday the $1 million offer from wealthy San Diego businessman Robert Herring, the large sum to have been given Terri Schiavo's husband in exchange for the transfer of her legal guardianship from Michael to Terri's parents, Bob and Mary Schindler. While Herring's generous offer remains outstanding through Monday, George Felos castigated it as "offensive" and added resolutely that there is "no amount of money anyone can offer that will cause him to turn his back on his wife."

So, the Judge Greer-Michael Schiavo-George Felos phalanx remains coldly purposeful and with seemingly impregnable defenses, unassailable through legal channels or via cold hard cash. Indeed, this right-to-die triumvirate has one goal only: the death of Terri Schindler-Schiavo through court-ordered starvation and dehydration. March 18th looms tragically as the date on which Judge Greer has ordered Terri's gastric feeding tube removed. Her crime: being cognitively disabled. Her sentence: a gruesome, protracted execution. The result: man's inhumanity to man trumps the sanctity of God's creation. Implication: none of us is safe from the reach of callous, activist judges -- not even in America.
