LAZINESS, NOT WINE CONSUMPTION, KEY TO LONG-LIVED FRENCH

The French are up in arms, in a huff and fearful of losing their coveted 35-hour work week. Nice to see that they can close ranks on something (certainly not international terrorism). Will Jacques Chirac's government capitulate to the unions and wave the white flag before masses of languor-opting Frenchmen storm the barricades? I suspect a white flag is de rigueur in the coat closet of any president of France worth his salt. It's a long-standing custom there, you know!
