WHAT IS BLOGGING FOR?

Found this jewel, authored by Grant McCracken, linked to by the always intriguing Virginia Postrel at her site, which you'll find on my Blogroll. Grant's obviously a terrific writer and makes some interesting observations that force me into reflection. For starters, am I "completely epidsodic" as a blogger (a function of my eclectic interests, rather than pinpoint focus)?

As Grant correctly observes:

All of us hope for a sweet spot: a body of smart and various themes that organize without compressing discourse, that give us analytic range without costing us focus, that give the blog an exoskeleton without specifying what it must look like day to day.
