This story reported in today's Lucianne tells me that we in Texas are being over-taxed by our government. I know for a fact we're getting hammered on property taxes (of course, that revenue does not go into the state's coffers). True, we don't have a state income tax, but our sales, business and property tax rates more than offset those savings. Notice the first thing our state controller speculates on is whether or not certain government services can be restored or amplified, rather than any mention of tax rate reductions or rebates. Isn't that the way, always? Some things never change.
