PRESIDENT BUSH CONTINUES TO SUPPORT SANCTITY OF LIFE

President Bush continues to display leadership in endeavoring to reduce the number of abortions in this country. He is backing two key pieces of legislation: the Child Custody Protection Act and the Unborn Child Pain Awareness Act. The former would make it illegal for other than a teenager's parents or legal guardian to take her across state lines to receive an abortion. Currently there are states in which parental notification is not required. The latter would require that pregnant women considering an abortion after the 20th week of pregnancy must be advised by the abortion practicioner that the unborn child will experience considerable pain owing to the procedure.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step. After all, t's hard to legislate a conscience.
