There is much for the gristmill in this provocative Pat Buchanan column from his magazine, "The American Conservative"; but, I point to it now solely to cite his compelling observation that if there was but one major attack by an alien who sneaked across the Mexican border ... the president will lose the terrorism issue for the balance of his term.

Buchanan is dead on correct, because American voters in general, key Republican congressmen in particular, and Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) to be sure, view the president's proposed "Guest Worker Program" as a gift to Mexico and Presidente Vicente Fox's chief export to the United States -- illegal aliens -- rather than a comprehensive measure to thwart illegal immigration and secure our country's southern border.
